    Description

Around 1900, at the height of Art Nouveau, the glass production in Klostermühle was defined by two distinctive design features: the intricately twisted and combed thread decor, as well as the iridescent, metallic finish. This characteristic technique, introduced into the production of the glassworks in 1898, became known under the collective term “Phenomen Glass.” Decorative vessels of this type are among the most technically advanced, artistically demanding, and successful products of the manufactory, showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship and creative innovation of the glassworks.
The decor “Phenomen Genre 6893” is among the oldest of the “Phenomen” genres at Johann Loetz Witwe, alongside PG 166. The décor, with ist wave-like pattern created from a 16-part ribbed mold, is particularly striking on the fourfold indented vase body with a wavy rim. The refined combination of form and decoration allows the vase to shine in exceptional light, demonstrating the mastery of the Loetz glassworks in creating glass objects that set the highest standards both technically and aesthetically.
