The salon cabinet, made of rosewood and other precious woods, was shown at the London exhibition as part of an upper-class smoking room. In a contemporary photograph, one can see the cabinet placed centrally against the back wall of the salon. This sideboard, partly provided with glasses, served both as a cabinet and as a display case for the presentation of fine household utensils and art objects. Clearly visible in the mentioned photo, sculptures are shown on the stepped top of the cabinet. The representative piece of furniture thus fulfilled the purpose of storage space and showcase at the same time. In this sense, the thoughtful design and high-quality finish are to be understood. Its front in rosewood is decorated with intarsia in heart-leaf ornamentation. The showcases are arranged geometrically according to the taste of the time. The beautifully cut and faceted glasses are still in their original state.
