    Description

This egg-shaped miniature vase was designed for the renowned Viennese glass retailer E. Bakalowits Söhne. It features Franz Hofstötter’s World Exhibition decor PG 358, a complex composition of colors and threads whose successful execution on the limited surface of such a small vessel demonstrates exceptional technical skill.

The “World Exhibition Decor” (Phänomen Genre 358) is characterized by dark brown trailing in the lower section, delicate bluish-silver threads in the central zone, and an orange band at the rim. The balanced interplay of these three colors, together with the evenly applied overlays, lends the miniature vase a remarkably harmonious appearance.

The vase is held within a mounting of copper and gilt bronze, ornamented with a small putto.
