In the life’s work of the exceptional artist Hermann Nitsch, the “Schüttbilder” are the most recognizable and very exemplary pieces of his oeuvre. In them his idea of the “Orgien Mysterien Theater” manifests itself concisely and aesthetically very appealing. Nitsch worked consistently until his passing on the realization of his vision of this “Gesamtkunstwerk”, in which life is to be experienced with all the senses in a kind of total immersion. Music and art, euphoria and ecstasy allow the actors to immerse themselves in elementary states of life.
Thus, the viewer of this splatter paintings in the color of life and death, can immerge in the philosophy of Hermann Nitsch and participate in the ritual of the “Orgien Mysterien Theater”.
