Description
Willy Eisenschitz is one of the most important Austrian painters of the 20th century. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1911 and moved to Paris early on, where he enrolled at the Academy de la Grande Chaumière. Through the painters of the ,,Ecole de Paris” he found a connection to the Parisian art scene. In Austria he was a member of the Viennese Hagenbund.
From 1921 Willy Eisenschitz spent his summer months mostly in the French Provence, where he created his light-flooded, southern landscape impressions. This painting as well impresses with coloristic accents in warm ocher colors of the south.
Eisenschitz was highly regarded as a painter throughout his life and was member of the Societé Nationale des Beaux Arts. He showed his works in numerous exhibitions in museums and with art dealers in France as for instance at the Salon d’Autonomnes in 1928.
