imprinted on the bottom of the stand: “PATENT ANG”
In terms of lighting, Werkstätte Hagenauer was aiming to design a model that would not only illuminate a limited area. The construction of a reduced lighting fixture that could be rotated in all directions was their goal for the 1951 Triennale in Milan. The brothers Hagenauer worked on the design for a long time, but in 1949/50 they applied for a patent named “Das Winkelpatent Flamingo Hagenauer Wien”.
The design of several interlocking brass tubes is dictated by function: the combination of three angles (two obtuse-angled and one right-angled) allows the lamp to point in any given direction. One can have the light exactly where one needs it.
This ingenious patented system could be used in many different lamp variations and brought about unique designs.
Our object is in wonderful condition and bears the original labels: “Rohrwinkelpatent Flamingo Hagenauer Wien” and “Österreichisches Patent Nr.167348”.
