    Description

Maritime motifs were a popular theme at the Werkstätte Hagenauer. Our sailor represents exactly this kind of sculptures, which Franz Hagenauer designed around 1965. With a strong reduction of body shape and minimalistic details, our seafarer stands obediently in a tight posture. He wears the typical nautical uniform and has pulled his plate cap, crowned with a pompom, low over his face. To enhance this impression, Franz Hagenauer only indicated one of the eyes. Through the nickel-plated and mirror-polished surface, he reflects his surroundings. Witty and in an elegant line, Franz Hagenauer demonstrates his design-talent with this enchanting figure.
