    Description

Franz Hagenauer designed the lady with greyhounds at the beginning of the 1930s. With its dynamic silhouette, he lets the woman almost casually tame her two ahead-pushing companions. The elegant hounds are both powerful and masterfully reduced, their sleek body, narrow snout and long legs predestinated to be cast in a stylized form.
Franz Hagenauer thus picks up on the motif of the chic woman in the company of greyhounds. Very popular in Art-deco, it represents the epitome of a refined way of life. If the imagination is allowed free rein, the subject of the dog tamer also allows for frivolously ambiguous associations. However, in her pose and athletic, androgynous silhouette, the lady certainly bears the artist’s signature.
