    Description

Gurschner designed several utensils for a study or representative office. Among these objects we find writing sets, inkwells, seals, bookends and table lamps. When using an ink pen at that time, the use of a blotting device was indispensable for drying the ink.
Gurschner has contributed several designs for ink cradles, for instance single handled ones or with a closed handle. This one consists of two parts. The cradle itself is made of polished wood, while its handle is bronze cast.
Gurschner pays particular attention to its decoration. A chessboard pattern is worked into the bronze on the bow, while the largest part is taken up by a spiral pattern set in a rectangle. Beaded pearls add an additional frame on the edge. The decoration stands out clearly against the patinated bronze and harmonize perfectly with the wood of the cradle.
