    Description

Franz Hagenauer primarily saw himself as a sculptor and developed his unique style at a young age. Through his stylized language of forms, he created an impressive variety of sculptures, with the female body in various expressive poses often at the forefront.

The female nude “Maid” features a freestanding figure in symmetrical composition. Her long, slender body, with arms confidently extended outward, exudes remarkable tension and elegance. Hagenauer simplifies the figure into an athletically androgynous silhouette, with the finely chiseled hair and suggested face adding subtle details.

In this work, Hagenauer masterfully balances minimalist form with a powerful, expressive pose – a combination that defines his unmistakable style.
