    Description

Female nudes combined with dogs were a popular motif at Werkstätte Hagenauer. The well-known Diana candelabrum, for example, depicted the goddess of the hunt alongside a dog. However, similar compositions also appeared in secular scenes, featuring female figures accompanied by various breeds.
This remarkably large sculpture is presumably a first casting, identifiable by lead-filled corrections on the back of the woman’s legs and chin. These apparent imperfections make the piece truly unique and further enhance its value among collectors.
Both figures—woman and dog—impress with their elongated, elegantly curved forms. While the woman lingers in a moment of stillness, the dog is captured in dynamic motion, creating a striking interplay between rest and movement. Finely chiseled details add an extra layer of refinement to the composition.
