    Description

At the end of the 1920s, the Werkstätte Hagenauer expanded its range to include humorously stylized animal figures in wood. A particularly charming example is this elephant, skillfully carved from dark-stained hardwood, with polished brass tusks that create a striking material contrast. The natural grain of the wood animates the surface, lending the figure warmth and vitality, while the simplified, pared-down form captures the modern character of Mid-Century design.
