The painting created in 2013 by Eduard Angeli presents a quiet, almost transcendent view of the sea surrounding the lagoon city of Venice. In its horizontal format, the composition opens onto an expanse of water stretching toward the horizon, where bands of green and yellow gradually condense into deep violet and purple tones. Only six small yellow lights, suggesting distant fishing boats, anchor the scene in reality and lend spatial depth to an otherwise nearly abstract image. The work was created during Angeli’s many years in Venice, where the distinctive light of the lagoon became a central source of inspiration.
