Bronze sculpture “Sensual Movement” Mario Dalpra 2022

Mario Dalpra, born in 1960 in Feldkirch/Vorarlberg, studied in the master class of Arnulf Rainer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. The multi-talented artist initially worked as a painter and started with his first wooden sculptures in 1998. From 2006 onwards, he devotes more time to his bronze sculptures, which subsequently become his “signature” pieces.
Dalpra’s cast bronze sculptures are characterized by flowing, organic forms and are presented in various surface finishes. The special design of these surfaces plays an important role in Dalpra’s art. This bronze piece, too, features organic contours, and the dark green patina emphasizes the tranquility of the self-contained sculpture.
At the center of the composition is a ring-shaped closed oval form that connects the other elements like links of an oversized chain. The harmonious thickening at the base grounds the sculpture and provides a balanced counterweight to its ascending elements. The patina also makes “Sensual Movement” suitable for outdoor settings.
