    Description

Born in Austrian Vorarlberg in 1960, Mario Dalpra enrolled in Arnulf Rainer’s master class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1982. The versatile artist initially worked as a painter.
In 1998 Dalpra started to create his first wood sculptures and in 2006 he realized his first bronze works. In the following years, he devoted himself to this technique, and bronze sculptures became signature objects in his oeuvre.
His figures often display flowing forms and strong colors. Thus,”Maat Goddess of Truth” is also characterized by fluid shapes. In ancient Egyptian cosmology the goddess Maat embodied the principles of world order and truth. In contrast to the high-gloss lacquered or even chrome-plated surfaces in his other sculptures, Mario Dalpra leaves this light blue one matte lacquered, which gives the sculpture an aura of understatement.
