Born in Vorarlberg/Austria in 1960, Mario Dalpra enrolled in Arnulf Rainer’s master class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1982. The versatile artist initially worked as a painter, participated in several performances, and created installations as well.
Dalpra began working on his first wood sculptures in 1998 and completed his first bronze works in 2006. In the following years, he devoted himself to this technique, and bronze sculptures became signature objects in his oeuvre.
His bronze figures often display flowing forms and bright, strong colors. Thus, the red “Fließende Bewegung” (Fluid movement), refined in an elaborate three-layer lacquer finish, is also characterized by smooth contours. Additionally, the silky surface emphasizes the sensual component of this sculpture.
