    Description

In the late 1920s, the Werkstätte Hagenauer gradually expanded its range to include products for everyday use and functional objects. The 1928 sales catalog dedicated an entire page to bookends, showcasing more than twenty different variations, many featuring animal figures. In our model with ibexes, the curved horns continue the elegant, flowing line of the stylized animal bodies, which appear to press against the bookends with their front legs and hooves, as if actively contributing to their function. This combination of artistic form and practical use reflects the versatility and innovation that characterized Hagenauer’s work.
