    Description

Horse sculptures formed a consistent and significant part of the production repertoire of the Werkstätte Hagenauer. Throughout its entire period of activity, the horse motif was explored in numerous variations, ranging from static horse heads to dynamic depictions of galloping or rearing horses.

This horse head sculpture is executed in patinated brass, a material Hagenauer referred to as “Naturbronze.” The sculpture presents a powerful, slightly stylized interpretation of the animal, in which expression, presence, and formal clarity take precedence over naturalistic detail. Ist reduced formal language and disciplined modelling recall the tradition of classical equestrian monuments, while translating it into the clear, precisely contoured design language of the Werkstätte Hagenauer. The result is a concentrated study of form and force, balancing monumentality and elegant design in a harmonious composition.
