    Description

Adolf Beckert joined the Johann Loetz Witwe glassworks as an employee in 1908. Just one year later, at the age of 25, he was appointed the first and only artistic director of the glass manufactory. In the span of just three years, Beckert provided Loetz with over 1,500 designs, although only a fraction can be reliably attributed to him. His distinctive style is marked by elaborate ornamentation, achieved through technically demanding processes.
The color palette of our vase, made of opal white marbled ‘rose quartz’ glass with four applications of green glass, is highly unconventional. This piece comes from an early series designed by Beckert, aimed at reaching a wide market. The simple, clear form and the minimal golden decoration featuring rosette patterns are clear references to the Viennese decorative arts of the Vienna Secession.
