    Description

The form of this elegant vase with floral brass mounting in the Syrius decor by Loetz Witwe was designed by Antoinette Krasnik, a student of Koloman Moser at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, in 1901. She was one of the most renowned and successful graduates of his class and designed a variety of extraordinary vases for the Loetz company. The Syrius decor is characterized by a color gradient shifting from a greenish-transparent hue to pinkish-purple. This very modern-looking color variation was specifically used on glass designs from the school of Koloman Moser, for example by Jutta Sika, Robert Holubetz or, as here, Antoinette Krasnik. The vase was commissioned by the glass publisher E. Bakalowits. Around 1900, the company cooperated with selected established and upcoming designers from the Viennese art scene.
