In 1909, Adolf Beckert became the artistic director of Johann Loetz Witwe. Over the course of just two years, the young designer introduced a bold new artistic direction that marked a significant departure from the company\u2019s previous style. Loetz collectors particularly admire Beckert for his masterful engravings and acid-etched designs, often enriched with delicate appliqu\u00e9s. The colorless base, adorned with salmon-pink stripes, is wrapped in fine threads of blue, light green, and dark green glass. The elaborate decor was achieved by etching away multiple layers, creating captivating surface textures. Selective re-cutting of the red-green plant motifs enhances their three-dimensional presence.
