The construction of a reduced lighting fixture that could be rotated in all directions was their goal for the Triennale in Milan in 1951. The brothers worked on the design for a long time, but in 1949/50 they applied for a patent named “Das Winkelpatent Flamingo Hagenauer Wien”.

The design of several interlocking brass tubes is dictated by the function: the combination of three angles (two obtuse-angled and one right-angled) allows the lamp to point in any given direction. Thus, one can have the light exactly where one needs it.

This ingenious patented system could be used in many different lamp variations and brought along unique designs. Our example is in wonderful condition and bears the original labels: “Rohrwinkelpatent Flamingo Hagenauer Wien” and “Österreichisches Patent Nr.167348”.

Table lamp “Flamingo”, design Franz Hagenauer 1951, execution Werkstatte Hagenauer Vienna, reduced construction, mod.no.
