The ladies’ writing desk is an excellent cabinetmaker’s work. It was made by Vereinigte Werkstatten Munich according to a design by Bruno Paul. As an architect and designer, he was known for his exquisite interiors.
High-quality materials are used. The elaborate walnut and maple work is part of an ensemble that also includes a console. The fittings in hammered decor are made of silver. They are richly adorned with set coral beads. The body of the furniture is decorated with precise ornaments with finely carved geometric shapes. Due to this ornament all around, the table can also be presented freestanding in the room. There are two swiveling inserts on the sides for practical storage. The drawer in the middle also offers space for further various utensils. The storage compartments, bordered with noble pearl cord, can be locked with a key.
Bruno Paul’s ladies’ desk is an elegant as well as a functional piece of furniture.
