    Description

The Werkstätte Hagenauer’s repertoire included numerous representations of animals, with horses holding a particularly prominent place. Equestrian motifs run like a common thread through the entire body of work by Karl and Franz Hagenauer.

In this design, flowing lines merge into an elegantly stylized horsewoman, reflecting Karl Hagenauer’s playful formal language of the 1920s.
Crafted from high-quality brass—a material prized for its durability and warm golden hue—the figure combines decorative elegance with masterful craftsmanship and the distinctive design sensibility of the Werkstätte Hagenauer. The horse, rendered in darkly patinated brass, contrasts strikingly with the rider, whose lighter brass tone enhances the sculptural interplay.
The figure was offered by the Werkstätte Hagenauer both as a standalone horse sculpture and, in combination with the rider, as a unique base for a table lamp, as well documented in the 1928 sales catalog.
